Our Research

The HEAL lab studies social, ecological, and behavioural determinants of health within the context of public health crises.

As an interdisciplinary and community-based research group, the HEAL lab engages a socio-ecological theory of health that is rooted in lived experience and community knowledge.

Currently, the HEAL lab leads and collaborates on research related to the following topics:

  • Social Connection

  • Planetary Health

  • Recreational and Therapeutic Drug Use

  • Infectious Diseases

  • Adverse Childhood Experiences

  • Mental Health

  • 2SLGBTQ+ Health

  • Primary Care & Referral Pathways

For more information about the HEAL Lab and its research in these areas, contact Dr. Kiffer Card at kcard@sfu.ca.
